What is a vertical slider window?

A vertical slider (also called a vertical sliding sash window) is a modern uPVC version of the traditional box sash window. Instead of opening outwards, the two sashes slide up and down within the frame, giving the classic look of period and Georgian-style homes without the rot, warping or repainting of timber.

Yes. Our Spectus vertical slider windows can achieve a Window Energy Rating of up to A+, with U-values from 1.4 W/m²K down to 1.1 W/m²K depending on the glazing and specification. 24mm double glazing is fitted as standard. We can advise on the best option for your home.

Are vertical slider windows secure?

Yes. The window system is Kitemarked to PAS 24 and BS EN 12608 and is designed to achieve Secured by Design accreditation. Each window is fitted with snail cam locks, operated by lever or key, plus travel stops and safety restrictors for added child safety.

Can I clean a vertical slider window from inside?

Yes. Both sashes can be tilted inwards, so you can clean the outside glass from inside your home. This is a big advantage for upstairs windows and for homes where access to the outside is awkward.

Vertical sliders are designed for exactly this. The 128mm outer frame matches the dimensions of a traditional box sash, the frames and sashes can be mechanically jointed to avoid the mitred welded look of standard uPVC, and you can add run-through or moulded sash horns and Georgian bars for an authentic finish. If your property is listed or in a conservation area, always check with your local council about planning permission first.

What colours and sizes are available?

They are available in a wide range of period and contemporary colours and woodgrain foils, with the option of a different colour inside and out. Windows can be made up to 1500mm wide and 3000mm high. Ask us to see a foil swatch for accurate colours.
